  1. Polygon Classification By Dave Crispin STAIR Project ENTER

  2. Polygon Classification Welcome to the Polygon Classification Stand Alone Instructional Resource (StAIR). This StAIR will define several terms that are used to classify polygons. A five question quiz follows the lessons. Start

  3. Polygon Classification Classification CONVEX CONCAVE EQUILATERAL EQUIANGULAR REGULAR BY SIDES QUIZ

  4. Classification of Polygons By Sides • Polygons are named by the number of sides it has. • 3 sides = triangle • 4 sides = quadrilateral • 5 sides = pentagon • 6 sides = hexagon • 7 sides = septagon • 8 sides = octagon • 9 sides = nonagon • 10 sides = decagon • 12 sides = dodecagon Examples

  5. Examples # of sides = 3 Triangle # of sides = 6 Hexagon # of sides = 5 Pentagon # of sides = 10 Decagon Go to Convex/Concave

  6. Convex and Concave A polygon is convex if no diagonals from any two vertices go outside the polygon. Convex A polygon is concave is any diagonal goes outside of the polygon. **An easy way to remember is concave looks like a cave. Concave Go to Equilateral/Equiangular/Regular

  7. Equilateral/Equiangular/Regular Equilateral – all sides are the same length. Equiangular – all angles have the same measure. Regular – both equilateral and equiangular. Examples

  8. Examples Equilateral – all sides are the same length. Equiangular – all angles are the same measure. Regular – all sides are the same length and all angles are the same measure.

  9. Quiz Instructions This quiz has five multiple choice questions. If, at any time, you want to go back to the lessons, then click on the “home” button. Click HERE to begin the quiz. Good luck!
