  3. Function • Removal of metabolic (cellular) wastes from the body

  4. Metabolic wastes: CO2, H20, salt, nitrogenous wastes (urea)

  5. PARTS OF THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM

  6. Lungs • Excrete CO2 & H2O vapor CO2 & H20 vapor

  7. Skin • Excrete urea, salt & water in sweat (perspiration)

  8. Temperature regulation • Evaporation of sweat from skin cools body Maindex

  9. Liver • Produces UREA • Released into blood and then moves to kidneys

  10. Detoxification = waste products, toxins, and drugs removed from the blood
