What are some rules for the tee box? • Your ball should have a personalized mark on it. • You tee the ball between the tee markers and 2 club lengths behind. • If the ball falls off the tee, but you weren’t trying to swing at it, you may replace it with no penalty. • If you swing and the ball moves a few inches, you may not retee the ball. • The ball is considered “in play” once it has been struck on the tee and until it is holed out in the cup.
What are some rules for the fairway? • You may only carry 14 clubs in your bag. • You may not borrow clubs or balls from anyone. • Any intentional swing at the ball is counted as a stroke. • You may not ask for advice from another player, except for yardage markers, location of hazards, green, etc. • If you think you might have lost your ball, or you did not see where it ended up, hit a provisional ball. (A lost ball means you have to return and hit another with a 1 stroke penalty.) According to Sarah that is called the “walk of shame”. • Make sure you are hitting the correct ball.

With 1 stroke penalty, you can rehit the ball from • the original position or place the ball 2 club lengths from red line. No practice swings in the hazard. You cannot ground the club. For no penalty, you may hit it out of the hazard.
What is the other hazard? • Sand traps (bunkers) - you may not ground your club or take a practice swing. • Rake the sand after you are through. • If there is casual water in the bunker, you may take a free drop, but it has to be in the bunker, no closer to the hole.
What is proper etiquette for the putting green? • On the putting green, do not stand directly behind the hole while a player putts, nor step in their line, nor cast a shadow over their line. • Remain very still while another person is putting. • No bags are ever placed on the green or tee. • Repair any divots on the fairway. • Repair ball marks on the green.

If your ball hits another ball on the green while you are putting, it is a 2 stroke penalty to you. • Remove the flagstick while putting, or have someone “tend” the flagstick. The ball cannot touch the stick while putting. • If your ball is not on the green and you are hitting to the green, you have to decide if you want the flagstick in the hole or out, it cannot be tended. • To mark the ball, place the mark behind the ball and the flagstick carefully – remove the ball. Replace carefully. • All balls must be holed out – no gimmees!
