  1. How Prepared Are We?

  2. The Apostle John Writes: 5This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6 So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. – 1 John 1:5-6 • How “Light” Are We? • How Much of Jesus is in Us? • How Much Jesus (“Light”) do we reflect? • How Ready Are We for Christ’s Return?

  3. An Historical Warning 18 Your Majesty, the Most High God gave sovereignty, majesty, glory, and honor to your predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar.19 He made him so great that people of all races and nations and languages trembled before him in fear. He killed those he wanted to kill and spared those he wanted to spare. He honored those he wanted to honor and disgraced those he wanted to disgrace. 20 But when his heart and mind were puffed up with arrogance, he was brought down from his royal throne and stripped of his glory. - Daniel 5:18-20 • He was humbled and became like a cow in it’s field. …until he learned that the Most High God rules over the kingdoms of the world and appoints anyone he desires to rule over them. - Daniel 5:21

  4. Ignoring miraculous warnings 22 “You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself. 23 For you have proudly defied the Lord of heaven…while praising gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone—gods that neither see nor hear nor know anything at all. • Belshazzar knew better because of Nebuchadnezzar. • Belshazzar used implements from God’s Temple. • Instead of worshipping he defied the Lord of heaven and deified “stuff.” • Is Humanity today much different? • ? Black Friday’s antics after giving “Thanks.” ? 23 But you have not honored the God who gives you the breath of life and controls your destiny!

  5. A King Found Wanting 25 “This is the message that was written: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. • Mene means ‘numbered’—God has numbered the days of your reign and has brought it to an end. • 27 Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up. • 28 Parsin means ‘divided’—your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” • 30 That very night Belshazzar, the Babylonian king, was killed. 9 …if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. - 2 Peter 2:9

  6. How Foolish Can Humanity BE?? 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority.     Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings; 11 yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from the Lord. 12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish. - 2 Peter 2:10-12

  7. A Cause for Hope!! 7and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)  9 …if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. - 2 Peter 2:9

  8. Most Importantly… 3 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 4 They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” 5 They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command…- 2 Peter 3:3-5 • The Miracle of the Incarnation • The Suffering of the Cross • The Hope of the Resurrection • The Price PAID-IN-FULL That We Might Live!

  9. A Cause for Hope!! 7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. - 1 John 1:7-10

  10. How Prepared Are We??!! 23 But you have not honored the God who gives you the breath of life and controls your destiny! -Daniel 5:23 • How “Light” Are We? • How Much of Jesus is in Us? • How Much Jesus (“Light”) do we reflect? • How Ready Are We for Christ’s Return?
