  1. What Should I Look for in Senior Care? If we’re lucky to live long enough, we will require senior care at some point. Regardless of specific health ailments or living situations, we will all need some type of care as we age. For many of us, professional senior care will be the best the option. But what should you look for when examining the senior care options for you or your loved one? How can you know what your best option is? Your options The first, and perhaps biggest decision you must make pertains to the two overarching types of senior care that exist: in-home or a senior care facility (such as a nursing home). Far too many people think that a senior care facility is their only real option, either because they assume in-home care is not complete enough or is perhaps too expensive. But this isn’t the case. More and more people are discovering that in-home senior care is the superior option. Why uproot your whole life, sell your house/move out of your apartment, and disrupt everything just because you need a little extra help running your household or looking after yourself? For many seniors, it doesn’t make sense. And that’s why in-home senior care is so great. But you have to find the type of in-home senior care that’s right for you or your loved one. Find care tailored to your needs At a certain point, a senior may find that he or she needs a little more help than just hiring little Timmy down the block to cut the grass. But if struggling to cope with household chores is your only real problem, why would you need to hire a fully qualified nurse who is more better employed by somebody who needs help with medications and such? Try to find a senior care package that focusses on homemaking: grocery shopping, vacuuming, laundry, etc. For many seniors, help with homemaking can make all the difference in the world. Of course, many of us will need more help than just with chores and errands. If you or your loved one does need help with medications, following exercise plans, or perhaps help with colostomy or ostomy bags, some personal care is required. But again, this does not necessitate a move to a senior care facility. You can hire a fully qualified caregiver to come into your home to provide assistance with such issues. Now the big problem comes when a senior requires around the clock care. Surely, at this point, a nursing home is needed. Not necessarily. Live-in care is becoming increasingly popular. You still get to live in your own home but you also have the company of a caregiver who is there to look after you and you alone. Live-in care can help with all aspects of daily life. Executive Care
