Difference between MIS and CS • Computer Science creates information- enabling technologies (computers, etc.) • CS deals with technology for its own sake • CS is math-oriented • MIS concentrates on the use of computer and information technology to solve business problems • MIS is business and management oriented; however, a level of technical capability is required.

  4. Quality and Expectations • Successful students are those who: • Enjoy the subject area of MIS • Are engaged in class with the subject matter and their instructor • Are highly motivated • Work hard and show initiative to exceed expectations
