PK-12 Education:A Shrinking Share Of State Spending Budgets Reflect Priorities • The chart on the slide that follows shows that New York State is spending five cents less of each dollar it takes in to provide support for PK-12 Education when compared with a decade ago (2004). • This reduction in the share of spending made in support of PK-12 Education closely coincided with a decade when New York State reduced their portion total spending for education — SHIFTING THE BURDEN FOR SUPPORTING EDUCATION BACK ONTO LOCAL PROPERTY TAX PAYERS.
