  2. Manners-Greeting • In Taiwan they greet each other by bowing and saying, “Ni Hau.” Close friends would say, “Ni Hau ma?” • You bow lower, if your rank/age is lower than who you are bowing to.

  3. Language • Taiwan does not have an alphabet. ( A B C) They write in pictures. • You also read from right to left and top to bottom. 上 大 下 小

  4. Traditional Dress • This is Taiwan’s traditional costume for men. It is called a Hanfu. • It is not worn often today. • They prefer western style dress.

  5. Weather • Taiwan’s weather is mainly tropical(warm). • It is colder in the mountains. • Some seasons they have lots of rain. They call this a monsoon.

  6. Transportation • The Taiwanese use scooters to get around. Even families will use scooters.

  7. Sports • They like baseball and basketball.

  8. Festival • They race dragon boats and eat dumplings at The Dragon Boat Festival.

  9. Dumplings • It has meat, rice and mushrooms. It is cooked inside a banana tree leaf.

  10. Food • They like to eat stinky tofu and beef noodle soup.
