AssessmentsQuizzes • Quizzes : 40 % of the 9 weeks grade • Daily or “almost daily” • Based on homework and class presentations • Time limits and multiple versions • Common content -- spiraling of content • Quiz grades 60-69 – correct all missed items for a maximum grade of 70 • Quiz grades below 60 – correct and re-take for a maximum grade of 70
Assessments Tests • Tests 50 % of the 9 weeks grade • 2 or 3 tests per grading period • One-hour time limit as a norm • General format – both multiple choice and free response • Emphasis on application of skills and solution of real-world exercises • Common tests and multiple versions • Grades 60-69 – Correct within allotted time for a maximum grade of 70 • Grades below 60 – Correct and re-take within allotted time for a maximum grade of 70

PSAT • Wednesday, October 12, 2011 • All students will take the PSAT during school hours. • Eleventh grade students compete in the National Merit Scholarship Qualification Test. • All students will receive their test back and receive a detailed score report. • Optional Preparation Book: The Official SAT Study Guide ($22.00)
IfYou Buy The Official SAT Study Guide Mrs. Doyle ( in Room G134) has all of the mathematics sections in that study guide worked out already, with work shown, available in her room to check their answers and will answer all questions.
Students should take the SAT in the Spring Semester of their Junior year. A good score on the SAT can translate to a good scholarship !!!

If You are a veteran who entered the military from the state of Texas: Research the HAZELWOOD ACT Benefits are now transferable to your child.
AFTER PAP/IB ALGEBRA II PAP Pre-Calculus and then AP Calculus A student may receive college credit if he/she scores high enough on the AP Calculus test. IB math (HL or SL) These courses are two years long and cover the same material that is covered in pre-calculus and calculus. HL : Higher Level SL : Standard Level Mrs. Ellis has a few closing words for us!
