  2. APEC • The APEC study done by USDA found • 1.8 billion dollars in errors • $306 million in overpayments in the SBP • Breakfast Errors Included • Not identifying a reimbursable breakfast at the point of service • Claiming meals that were not reimbursable

  3. As A Result - - • CNP is now reviewing breakfast as part of the CRE process • We want to provide all sponsors with training – • To assure that all of the breakfast meals are planned to meet the selected menu planning option. • Staff is able to identify a reimbursable breakfast as taken by students.

  4. We want to be part of the solution in solving the errors identified byAPEC

Food Based Menu Planning Planned Menu must include all 4 components Bread/Grain or Meat/Meat Alternate 2nd Bread/Grain or Meat/Meat Alternate Fruit or Vegetable Fluid Milk Nutrient Standard Menu Planning 1.Planned Menu mustbe analyzed using approved software 2. Menu must meet all of the established Nutrient Standards 3.Minimum required menu items – 2 items & fluid milk Let’s Start By Defining A Reimbursable Breakfast
