History of City of Monash

The City of Monash was found in December 1994 but it’s settlement goes way back about 150 years ago . The first known settler was Thomas Napier , a Scottish builder, who established Bushy Park Run in 1839 on the western side of Dandenong Creek of Jells Park . Another Scot, John McMillan leased a 5 square mile run known as Scotchman's Creek in 1840. The area's most notable land owner was Judge, Sir Redmond Barry, who passed sentence on Ned Kelly. Barry owned two large properties , Syndaland St John's Wood, now the home of the Riversdale Golf Course.
