  4. What are Employability Skills? Students should have the opportunity to develop these skills within the curriculum: numeracy working with others literacy resilience IT perseverance self discipline Communication DfE

  6. So, what do we want to do in Kent? We aim to achieve full youth employment, put in place better systems for local employers and learning providers to work in partnership secure the higher levels of skilled young people we need in the key growth sectors relevant to the Kent economy have every young person participating in high quality learning or training that is relevant to their needs, until the age of 18, with a good outcome 14 – 24 Learning, Employment and Skills Strategy 2013 – 2016
  7. This strategy, what’s it about? This strategy is designed to set out the overarching ambitions and outcomes that we and our partners intend to achieve to link the world of learning to the world of work more successfully to bring about more rapid transformation in young people’s skills, qualifications and employability
  8. Educating for Employability Framework consists of three themes …. aspiration the role of careers education attitude the role of work related learning achievement the role of qualifications

  10. Outcomes2009 The Employability Challenge positive approach using numbers effectively using language effectively using IT effectively self management thinking and solving problems working together and communicating understanding the business

Specification for assessment Recognise, develop and apply their skills for enterprise and employability Relate their own abilities, attributes and achievements to career intentions and make informed choices based on an understanding of available options Develop an awareness of the extent and diversity of opportunities in learning and work Use their experiences of work to extend their understanding of careers and work
