  3. Introduction - Professional • This is my 20th year teaching 4th grade at Lander. • 23rd year in Mayfield/ 25 th overall. • Also taught preschool, 1st , 3rd , and 5th. • Attended Hillsdale College and received my Masters in Education from JCU.

Parent Expectations • Review & return black ‘Take Home’ Folder • Review and return student agenda daily • Read classroom communications (as needed basis) • Monitor homework • Communicate with all teachers • Call school if child is sick • Email both teacher and the office for transportation changes

Reading Workshop • Reading Workshop components: • Interactive read-aloud • Independent reading • Student should be reading 20 minutes each night • Reading response journals • Guided reading – Flexible small groups • Reading mini-lessons • Fiction & nonfiction on regular basis • Teacher conferences – Small group & individual

Writing Workshop • Writing Workshop components: • Independent writing • Writing folders/journals • Writing units of study – Opinion writing, Realistic Fiction, Research writing, Personal Narrative • Revision and editing process • Writing mini-lessons • Teacher conferences – Small group & individual
