  1. Vocabulary: Frequently Confused Words. Directions: Draw a simple picture or diagram of each word in the three pairs of boxes below. Each picture should show the difference in meaning between the two words. Write a sentence below each box using the word correctly. Put this in your vocabulary section. TEST ON FRIDAY!!

  4. Descriptive Writing: Choorbus Excitement has been building for weeks at the San Diego Zoo. The number of curious onlookers gather outside the Choorbus cage has grown larger with each passing day. The object of all attention is a nest where a female Choorbus, a nearly extinct species, has been patiently sitting, waiting the day when her newborn hatches. Finally, the day arrives when the first cracks begin to appear, then more, until finally, finally… a loud gasp bursts from the crowd. The hatchling appears, but what emerges is beyond anyone’s imagination. Your task is to describe the newest Choorbus. Put in the Literature Section 

  5. Sentence Combining Directions: Copy the sentences. Combine each pair of sentences by inserting a word or phrase from one sentence into the other. You may need to add commas or change the forms of words. Write the new combined sentence on your paper. Put it in the Grammar section of your binder. Example: Two Sentences: Last night’s tornado caused damage. The damage was widespread. Possible answer: Last night’s tornado caused widespread damage. Jerry keeps a journal of activities. It is a daily journal. Lateisha and I studied for the biology test together. We studied Saturday afternoon. The girl is my cousin June. She is standing next to me in this picture. My friend Paco is an artist. He is self-taught. The airport was closed this morning. It was closed because of the blizzard.
