  2. How Are People Affected? How Are People Affected? This winter,it has been exceedingly cold and snowy. There have been several snow days, many accidents, and big problems. The snow started on December 26, and has hardly left. The December blizzard lasted about two days, and had spread all along the East Coast, hitting the Northeast especially hard.New York City seemed to get hit the hardest from the worst storm in four years, even though a December blizzard there is uncommon. The storm forced three major airports to shut down, stopped trains and closed a few subway lines.Officials said it would take days to dig out of the deep snow. Many residents could not get to their jobs, and it took a long time for emergency services to arrive. But despite all of the snow, the cleanup was slower than expected. There are many possible reasons for the shortcomings, but no matter the reason, the storm hit hard. The December snowstorm was not the only major storm - there had been six snowstorms in just 30 days. Many storms caused power outages, left many people stranded, and created transportation problems. The Long Island Rail Road was on a reduced schedule,LaGuardia Airport cancelled hundreds of flights, and in Maryland abandoned vehicles lined the streets.Also,500 car accidents had been reported in New Jersey, and many deaths had been reported along the East Coast. The snow had also broken many records. In Chicago, children had their first snowday in 12 years, there had been six storms in 30 days, and the rare thundersnow had occurred. The first football game had been postponed in over 75 years.Philadelphia had been hit with 17 in. of snow,Washington,D.C. ranged from three to seven in.,Connecticut had been hit with 18 in.,and parts of New Jersey received 19 in.This had been the snowiest January in a century. 3. Where And When Did This Happen? How Are People Affected? Where And When Did This Happen? The snowstorms have hit all over, and on many different dates.More than two-thirds of the country had been hit,and several places had recorded more than two feet of snow The December snowstorm had originated at the Gulf of Mexico on Dec.25,then traveled across Florida, and picked up speed along the Carolinas. But before it could strike down upon the Northeast, the storm led to states of emergency in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. The Northeast seemed to be the most largely impacted from all of the snowstorms.Since it was very cold there, the snow barely melts,so it would just accumulate after each storm. That would cause big problems for transportation, snowplows, and shoveling. It collapsed roofs along the Northeast, and in Middleton,CT,it brought an office building to the ground, spraying bricks all over Main Street. Across the country there had been many power outages from falling tree limbs and ice-coated wires. Transportation was slow and reduced in most places – trains were suspended and schedules reduced;buses were very slow;there were many car accidents and the roads were not always plowed;the George Washington and the Verrazano-Narrows bridges had both been closed from falling ice.Airports had especially been impacted, with millions of flights cancelled. Thirty states have felt the winter’s blow, with large amounts of snow recorded.Snow has fallen from New Mexico up to Minnesota, and east to Maine. Many states have been hugely impacted. 4. The Done-Deal Damage How Are People Affected? This winter has caused a lot of damage, from power outages to collapsing roofs to busted budgets.Transportation was never good, snowplows had a lot of snow to tackle, and there were many dangers to just an ordinary day. There had been many problems to the snow, but problems can be solved.Though these problems took longer to solve.Since it was very cold, there was a lot of ice and the snow wouldn’t melt. There had been huge power outages all over caused from snow and ice.Transportation was a mess of cancelled flights, closed roads, bridges and highways, with slow and reduced schedules for trains and buses. There had been many trips to the emergency room from shoveling injuries, car accidents, and the widely common slip-and-fall cases. This hectic winter has also caused many places to go far beyond their budgets for snow removal.New Jersey had been impacted hard by all of the snow, and it’s $20 million budget had ran out far before the end of winter.Tennessee had set aside $14 million, but really spent over $20 million.Boston, which is usually prepared for the harsh weather, had spent over two – thirds of its $16 million budget.New York City had spent nearly all of its $38 million budget before the first of January because of the snowstorm after Christmas. All of the snow has caused major problems, but little by little, solutions are made. Where And When Did This Happen? The Done- Deal Damage What Are The Efforts? How to Learn More And Reply to this Article... A blizzard rages through Chicago, causing major destruction.

  5. What Are The Efforts? How Are People Affected? Where And When Did This Happen? This outrageously snowy winter has caused an immense amount of problems all over the country. But what are the efforts of solving and fixing these snow troubles? The Sanitation Department had been doing its best to keep the snow under control, but the snow was still something to worry about. The snow has forced many states to go over their snow removal budget. The snow plows had had an exceedingly tough time with all the snow, since there was a lot of snow, but not enough snow plows. With that, many side streets had been left unplowed, forcing the residents to do it themselves, but that had caused many injuries and risks.Though many had volunteered, the snow was still a problem. The snow had been a growing problem.Since more storms would swoop in after one snowstorm, the snow would just accumulate. People would try their best to clear it,but many problems had been run into.It had been so cold, so icy,and extremely snowy, so there had been many injuries and slow cleanups. Many places had declared a state of emergency because of all the snow, which also closed the public schools many times.A lot of people could not get to their jobs due to unplowed roads, and from lots of snow. This winter has been a very hectic one, with many problems.Though efforts, overall, had been strong. The Done-Deal Damage What Are The Efforts? How to Learn More And Reply to this Article...
