  2. Scarboro Missions is a Roman Catholic missionary society involved in mission overseas and in Canada. • If was founded in 1918 by Msgr. John Mary Fraser, a priest of the Archdiocese of Toronto. • In keeping with the spirit of the Second Vatican Council and at the urging of lay Catholics, Scarboro Missions began accepting lay missioners in the 1970s. • Today, Scarboro Missions priests and lay missioners work collaboratively and in co-operation with other mission groups in various countries.   4. … is a way of introducing young adults, who already have an interest in mission, to Scarboro Missions and to experience mission life. • The short-term missioners will go to countries that Scarboro Missions already has a relationship with and where there are active lay missioners.   5. Introduce young adults, interested in mission, to a 9-month overseas placement in Guyana. Promote compassion and empathy in short-term missioners through living simply and in solidarity with the poor and marginalized peoples of the world. Offer young Catholics an opportunity to reflect on their experience in light of their faith and the Gospel, deepening their spirituality. Promote learning, confidence-building, interfaith dialogue and cultural exchange, in a positive manner, between young adults and people in Guyana. Objectives

Scarboro Missions is looking for people who are: • Catholic (evolving) • Canadian Citizen or permanent resident • Mature and adaptable • In good overall health • Willing to make a one-year commitment without a home visit • 21 years minimum age • Willing/open to try and learn a foreign language. • College and/or university graduate Who should apply?
