  6. Our Plan about extending Deer Hunting Season/Hunting with a Low Powered Rifle • We plan to try to get the deer hunting seasons extended. • This is so there will be less car accidents involving deer. • This includes hunting on Sundays. • This will also please farmers, because they will have less deer eating their crops and will be able to have more of their crops that they can use. • We think this will make it easier for teenagers and kids that have school in the week to hunt more often. • Maryland does hunting on Sundays and it has done well and there has been many hunters happy about it. • We are going to try to make a law that Delaware will have a low powered rifle season as long as you buy a permit that states that you are hunting on enough land that you can use a low powered rifle. The state needs to tell us how much land we have to be hunting on so we don’t hurt something if you miss.

  7. Our Letter • February 9, 2011 • Dear Mr. Robert L. Venables, • We are writing to you to address the overgrowth of the deer population in Delaware. We believe that deer hunting seasons should be extended due to the overgrowth of deer in the state. The reasons that we say this is because the deer are causing economical damage to the state of Delaware. For example, they cause many car accidents each year damaging cars, roads, telephone poles and probably the most important of all, they cause people to lose their lives. • We would also like to address the problem of crop damage. We know that farmers get crop damage tags but their crops are still being destroyed. Farmers can lose 10,000 dollars or more from deer in a year. Farmers should not have to deal with this problem. They spend a lot of time and money pampering their crops and then the deer eat and damage them. If the deer damage the crops to badly the farmers might not be able to pay back the money they borrowed. • We have a solution for this problem, of course extending the deer hunting seasons. We think that we can extend the hunting seasons and even hunt on Sundays. Neighboring states such as Maryland, have done this and it seems to be working in their favor. If we do not extend the hunting seasons we think we should add a hunting season. We are thinking that the state of Delaware should also add a low powered rifle season. Low powered rifles do not get as much range, we know the reason we cannot use high powered rifles is because Delaware has flat lands. • We think that if we can change the hunting laws the problems I addressed could be fixed. • Sincerely, • Tyler Daniels • Brock Cataldi
