  1. South Baldwin Center for TechnologyUsing Blogs as a Means for Communicating South Baldwin Center for Technology Kyle Davis 25595 Overlook Drive Loxley, AL 36551 251-214-7817 kmdavis@bcbe.org

  2. Summary • Schools need a way to communicate their on goings to all stakeholders • People keep busy schedules and it is hard to make PTO/PTA meetings • Propose to use a school Blog for SBCT to promote our school • The Blog would serve as an effective way to communicate and promote, while integrating technology

  3. Problems • General Public does not know what goes on at a technical center • Lack of knowledge of the programs we offer can hurt our enrollment • Lack of numbers cause cuts in programs • Cut programs produce less skilled laborers in our community

  4. Objectives • To Inform the Public of what SBCT is, and what we do here at our school on a day to day basis • To Establish an open communication opportunity with all stakeholders • Integrate technology, which is part of our curriculum, in something that we as a school can do everyday

  5. Implementation • Principal approves the Blog and establishes an author • Principal will establish high content material that does not take much time to process and give to author • Stakeholders with be highly informed in a minimal amount of time • Author creates post, gets it approved by principal then posts

  6. Monitor and Evaluate • We can monitor through blog followers, look at the stats on Blogger about site hits and reads on each day, and comments made on Blog posts • The main evaluation assessment will be school enrollment. • A survey will be given to new enrollees and one question will be how did you hear about SBCT. “Our Blog” will be one of the answers and we can check the data that way.

  7. Budget As Blogger is a free Web 2.0 tool from Google, there will be no monetary coast. It will cost time and man hours.
