  3. Why did we do this? • Bottom line – to save time and resources • Did not want to use the access process • Submitted XML files for the 2000 and 2001 information • Volunteered to test the NEI v3.0 schema and submit the 2002 information

  4. How did we do this? • Generating a sample XML file and mapping our data to the sample • Taking small steps and achieving little increments of success, repetition • Support from the CDX and NEI teams.

  5. What did it take? • Persistence and Patience • Testing the schema and header while trying to generate the XML document • Changing some of our values to NEI values/codes or creating a crosswalk • Repeated validation attempts until the instance document was correct

  6. The XML Data Validation service has finished processing your document ( d:\TEMP\NEINE03dburling082.xml) at Mon Feb 21 15:12:25 2005 .. It returned the following message: /hdr:Document/hdr:Payload/PointSourceSubmissionGroup/EmissionSubmissionGroup[1]/PollutantCode PollutantCode has an invalid value (PT) according to the lookup table. /hdr:Document/hdr:Payload/PointSourceSubmissionGroup/EmissionSubmissionGroup[1]/EmissionUnitNumeratorValue EmissionUnitNumeratorValue has an invalid unit numerator value (PY) according to the lookup table. /hdr:Document/hdr:Payload/PointSourceSubmissionGroup/EmissionSubmissionGroup[1]/FactorUnitNumeratorValue FactorUnitNumeratorValue has an invalid unit numerator value (POUNDS) according to the lookup table. /hdr:Document/hdr:Payload/PointSourceSubmissionGroup/EmissionSubmissionGroup[1]/FactorUnitDenominatorValue FactorUnitDenominatorValue has an invalid unit numerator value (TON ) according to the lookup table. /hdr:Document/hdr:Payload/PointSourceSubmissionGroup/EmissionSubmissionGroup[2]/EmissionUnitNumeratorValue EmissionUnitNumeratorValue has an invalid unit numerator value (TY) according to the lookup table

  7. What did we learn? • Each of the 8 groups must have the same key field entry • All codes must match the NEI v3 code tables • Must remove trailing blanks/spaces • Must use 000 for control equipment if none exists • Primary efficiency must have a value of 0.00 if no other value
