Critique of Mayo's Foster Care Services: HIQA Report Highlights Serious Shortcomings

A recent report by Hollyanne Butler criticizes the foster care service in County Mayo, Connacht, highlighting significant deficiencies. With a population of 130,638, Mayo currently has 123 children in foster care. HIQA inspectors found that only five out of 27 standards were being met, with a troubling one-third of cases lacking a proper review. Additionally, many foster carers reportedly received no training.
