  2. Purpose • Present the initial plan for handicap accessibility • Developed through visioning and working sessions with All Souls Ambassadors • Supported by the Vestry • Seek feedback from the Parish

History • March 2005--Capital Campaign Feasibility Study Report • August 2009--Started dialogue with MTFA Architects • October 2009--On contract with MTFA for initial planning • December 2009--Assigned 23 “Ambassadors” • January 2010--Visioning Workshop • February 2010--Review of the Visioning Workshop and “Bubble Drawings” • May 2010--Ambassador-only meeting on “likes and dislikes” of master plan • August 2010--Fr. John and Dale met with MTFA based on “likes and dislikes” to get to an achievable plan • September 2010--MTFA submits updated options • June 2011--Ambassador meeting with MTFA to reinitiate activity

  4. What About This Isn’t Strictly Accessibility? • Not Much • Lowering the garden to allow French doors to the Undercroft • Improves utility of the space • Fire Alarm • Hardly a luxury: look at the chapel at VTS… • New Portico • New Sign

  5. What are the Benefits Beyond Accessibility? • A clear, welcoming entrance from the parking lot • More, nicer restrooms • Improved utility of the Undercroft • This space should be getting more use including rental • Great location • Near metro • Parking

  6. How Much Will This Cost and How Do We Get There? • The architect’s current rough estimate is $1.3 million • Capital campaign coming, but we do not have to wait to refine plan and cost estimates • With $107,769 already in the Handicap Accessibility Fund we can pay for nearly entire cost of: • Schematic Design • Design Development • Construction Documents

What’s Next? • Conceptual Design & Budget (We Are Here) • Refine Design (Schematic Design) (6 weeks) • Review and Input • Pre-planning Meeting with DC • Public Relations with Neighbors • Final Design (Design Development) and Refined Cost (8 weeks) • Review and Input • Fundraising and Financing • Construction Documents (10 weeks) • Permitting (2 to 3 months) • Bidding Pre-qualified Contractors (3 weeks) • Construction Contract • Construction (9 months) 2 Years Requires Ambassador Review and Vote by the Vestry to Approve or Proceed
