  8. Class Rules: Follow directions quickly. Raise your hand for permission to speak. Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat. Make smart choices. Keep your teacher happy.

  9. What do these rules mean? What do they look like in class? Why do we have these rules?

  10. Class Rule #1: Follow directions quickly. • Follow directions the first time given • Follow directions immediately • Follow directions without argument

  11. Class Rule #2: Raise your hand for permission to speak. • Do not call out. • Do not interrupt. • This includes talking to classmates.

  12. Class Rule #3: Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat. • Do not get out of your seat without permission. • Not even to sharpen pencil, turn in work, etc.

  13. Class Rule #4: Make smart choices. • This rule applies to everything: homework, classwork, how you treat your classmates, how you respond to me, etc. • No classroom disruptions. • More detail later…

  14. Class Rule #5 Keep your teacher happy. • If you don’t keep me happy, I can’t teach you well. 

  15. We want a classroom that is safe and free from classroom disruptions. • What does “safe” mean? • What is a “disruption”? • Why? – so you can learn

  16. Martian Team Consequences: First Time – Warning (Verbal) Second Time – Minus one Dojo Point Third Time – 4 Square Box Fourth Time – Alternate Placement If actions/disruptions continue, other consequences may be assigned by teacher.

  17. Consequences:First time – Warning (Verbal) • Warning from teacher that your actions are causing a disruption. • Not meant to embarrass or upset you • Not “in trouble” • If actions stop, then the consequences will go no further. • Chance for you to recognize your behavior and turn it around.

  18. Consequences:Second time – Minus one Dojo point • What is Class Dojo? • https://teach.classdojo.com/#!/launchpad • Still have a chance to turn behavior around and earn back that point!

  19. Consequences:Third time – 4 Square box • May hear it called a 4x4 • What is it?
