  4. WHO IS AFFECTED? • Everyone feels some anxiety • Some see a test as an opportunity • Some see a test as a threat • A test-anxious student does not perform to their full potential

  5. Why Test Anxiety? • PRESSURE • PAST EXPERIENCE • FEAR OF FAILURE

  6. TIPS FOR AVOIDING TEST ANXIETY • Remember it is just one test • Practice good study habits • Do not rely on drugs to help you • Take care of yourself • Set high, attainable goals • Do not compete with others • Focus energy on the test • Practice relaxation techniques

  7. SHORT ANSWER EXAMS • Budget your time • Do easiest questions first • Look for clues in the question • Answer each question • Use the full time allowed

  8. ESSAY EXAMS • Read all questions first • Organize your ideas • Start with the easiest questions • Proofread at the end

  9. OBJECTIVE EXAMS • Solve in the order given if possible • Read each choice carefully • Think as you read • Finish the exam
