Context (Cont.) • A statistical database containing data from the Fifties: a kind of Data Warehouse • Old Softwares were used for its development • The SDB was built on series-time basis instead of on indicator basis • Many regular publications to disseminate according to a release calendar • Outsourcing of the editing activity of the main publications: source of delay for the release calendar • Development of IT infrastructure and availability of Skilled IT staff

The old process: big issues (1) • Update mechanism mobilizes a lot of resources and time • Single consultation without internet access • No possibility to exchange data with this tool • No possibility to perform the request and to crosstab variables • To design and to perform the publications needs a lot of time and many visits and exchanges with the editor

The new method: Innovative integrated solutions (3) • Data quality enhanced in different steps of the process • Workload and manual tasks reduced • Save of resources: time and money • Meet users community needs in terms of data requests: online database for a better access and reuse of national statistics • Development of a new module for the Data Validation when updating the SDB : activity in progress • Widening of the thematic coverage of the SDB: Gender statistics, Environment statistics, SDG indicators, etc. Results: Impact on statistics quality
