  1. Attendance Building Block Baylor University David Taylor, Senior Academic Consultant

  2. Initial Screen (pre setup) • Note: • “Taylor, David” appears twice because I have both a student and instructor account in this course. • The instructor would click “Dates Setup” to configure the building block for the first time.

  3. Dates Setup • Note: • You can set up a date range as well as add or remove individual days. • You can also hide non-students in order to hide TAs or other instructors.

  4. Taking attendance • Note: • Mark students present/absent/late/excused/unexcused and click Save Attendance. • Attendance will show in the columns to the right.

  5. Report • Note: • Click the “Report” button to see a summary of student attendance. • “Export” will export results to Excel.

  6. Seating Setup • Note: • Professors may also take attendance by seat. • From the main menu, they would click “Seating Setup” to set this up.

  7. Seating Setup (cont.)

  8. Attendance by Seat • Note: • The professor would then click “Attendance by Seat” to take attendance in the seating chart view.

  9. Student View • Note: • Students can see their own attendance data.

  10. Technical Overview • Currently, we set up a separate database for the Attendance Building Block. • Only MS SQL Server 2005 is supported. • Data is contained in 3 tables. • All code is contained in JSPs—no class files. • Questions? david_taylor@baylor.edu
