AEF & AFA • Vision: AEF complements AFA by supporting aerospace excellence through educational outreach, recognition & support • Mission: AEF provides public awareness programs, education and financial assistance to further America’s aerospace excellence • Local Chapters: Execution arm for National vision and mission

AEF Programs • USA Today Visions of Exploration Program • Sponsoring 30 elementary and 2 high school classrooms. • Provide newspapers and associated lesson plans • Chapter cost: $3500.00 • Teacher recognition programs • Alamo & Texas AFA Teacher of the Year • Christa McAuliffe Teacher of the Year • Chapter cost: National AFA funds.

  5. AEF Programs • JROTC Bronze Medal Cash Awards • Provide Twenty $250 cash awards to National Bronze medal winners – Outstanding Jr/ROTC High School Cadets • Detachment selects winner • National provides medal • Chapter provides Cash Awards • Chapter cost: Approximately $ 5000 annually

  6. JROTC Scholarship Participants • Eagle Pass HS • Taft HS • San Marcos HS • Alice HS • Pearsall HS • Memorial HS • Medina Valley HS • Canyon HS • Floresville HS • Boerne HS • Earl Warren HS • Holmes HS • John Jay HS • Clark HS • Southside HS • Judson HS • Other area schools

  8. AEF Programs • Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (UTSA) • Sponsored initial High School CyberDefense Competition-2005/06 (Which led to the National AFA CyberPatriot Program) • Chapter cost: $3500.00

  9. AEF Programs • Community College of the Air Force (Airman Pitsenbarger) Scholarships Chapter cost: National funding • Earle North Parker Essay Contest Chapter cost $2000.00 • Alamo AFA Member/Family Member Scholarships (10) at $ 1000.00 • Chapter Cost: $ 10,000.00

  10. Summary • AEF at Alamo chapter level executes National programs and: • Expends approximately $30,000.00, raised locally each year, to assist in developing potential aerospace leaders in the San Antonio Area
