  1. A Brief Description Of Computer Drive Accessories

  2. 1. Introduction • The drive is a computer accessory used to store data permanently. • These drives can be internal or can be attached externally to any computer device. • The Internal drives have 3 standard sizes: • 5.25" which is less popular • 3.5" which is the standard size for hard disks • 2.5" which is the standard size for laptop/tablet hard disks

  3. 2. Types of Computer Hard Drives • Floppy Drives • Hard Drives • Optical Drives • Network Drives

  4. 3. Hard Drives • Hard drives are generally present in the computer for permanent data storage. • These are the longest surviving devices in the history of computer storage. • These are of two types: • Mechanical Hard Disk Drives (HDD) • Solid State Drives (SSD)

  5. 4. Hard Disk Drive (HDD) • A hard disk drive (HDD), is an electromechanical data storage device that stores and retrieves digital data using magnetic storage. • It consists of one or more rigid rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic material. • The platters are paired with magnetic heads that are arranged on a moving actuator arm.

  6. 5. Solid-State Drive (SSD) • It is a solid-state storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies for storing data persistently. • It is sometimes called a solid-state device or s solid-state disk even though SSDs lack the physical spinning disks. • SSDs are more resistant to physical shock, run silently, and have quicker access time and lower latency.
