    1. Stopwatch Time Study Stopwatches Continuous mechanical stopwatch Snapback mechanical stopwatch Three-watch time study Methods time measurement stopwatch Digital stopwatches and electronic timers Computers

    2. Time Study Procedure Select the job to study Collect information about the job Divide the job into elements Do the actual time study Extend the time study Determine the number of cycles to be timed Rate, level, and normalize the operators performance Apply allowances Check for logic Publish the time standard

    3. Determine the Number of Cycles to be Timed N = number of cycles to time study R = range of the sample of observations A = required precision d2 = a constant to estimate the standard deviation of a sample X bar = arithmetical average

    4. Rate, Level, and Normalize the Operators Performance (Average time) x ( %rating ) = normal time

    5. Apply Allowances Total normal time + allowances = standard time

    6. Factors for Rating an Operator Skill Consistency Working conditions Effort
