Typical questions: • Assess Bismarck’s foreign policies • Assess Bismarck’s domestic policies • To what extent was Bismarck’s rule a success • “Bismarck was an opportunist rather than a skilled politician”. Discuss • In what ways, and with what success, did Bismarck use a) diplomacy, b) economic measures and c) war to achieve German Unification? • Look at historiography in the textbook. Make a table for this looking at general “success” or “failure” (make the notes specific e.g. economic, foreign policy etc). Then do the same for “opportunist “ and “skilled politician” (or incorporate it in the first table) • For either Q. 4, 5 or 6 make a “skeleton essay” as we did before – what are your paragraphs going to contain, how do they begin and end, what does your intro and conclusion contain? TIP – you should plan your paragraphs in themes e.g. economy, foreign policy, social policy, politics, military, and within each paragraph assess the success/failure or whatever the question is
