  1. SENSORS USED IN GAMES By WusqaWaqar

  2. What are sensors and how are they used in games? • A sensor is a converter that measures a physical quantity and converts it into a signal which can be read by an observer or by an instrumen • A game might track readings from a device's gravity sensor to infer complex user gestures and motions, such as tilt, shake, rotation, or swing. • Sensors create a connection between the controller and the wii. The player sends commands through the controller. They are sent as signals and the sensors of the wii , for example, inputs the signal and does what it is told to do.

  3. Example Of Game Sensors: Tilt sensors Tilt sensor used in a joystick • A tilt sensor can measure the tilting in often two axes of a reference plane in two axes. Typical applications can be found in the industry and in game controllers. They are used for: • Indicating pitch and roll of vehicles, sail boats, and aircraft. • Monitoring the boom angle of cranes and material handlers. • Measuring the "look angle" of a satellite antenna towards a satelliteand etc.

  4. Where Are Game Sensors Used? Kinect sensor Example • Kinect is a motion sensing input device by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game console and Windows PCs. The device features an "RGB camera, depth sensor and multi-array microphone running proprietary software", which provide full-body 3D motion capture, facial recognition and voice recognition capabilities. • It was made to interpret specific gestures, making completely hands-free control of electronic devices. • The software technology enables advanced gesture recognition, facial recognition and voice recognition.

  5. Advantages: • Helps to control things properly. • Functions are easily and quickly done. • They can easily detect if there’s any problem with the game. • Wireless sensor network are easier to control and avoid a lot of wiring. • Disadvantages: • Often devices with good game sensors, like playstations or wii, are expensive.
