  2. State of Utah Continuing Education Requirements • 40 hours every 2 years for PT’s • 20 hours every 2 years for PTA’s • January 2009 through May 2011 (Expiration date for PT’s) • One CEU is equivalent to 50 minutes of instruction in an approved setting.

  3. Approved Sponsors • American Physical Therapy Association • Utah Chapter • Colleges, Universities, or Community Colleges with accredited programs • Other State APTA Chapters as per review.

  4. Utah Chapter Sponsorship • Enhances the body of knowledge of the profession of physical therapy. • Evidence based knowledge. • Taught by a qualified instructor with credentialed schooling.

  5. Continuing Education Options • Continuing Education Instructor • 2 hours for each CEU for each 1 hr taught • ABPTS Clinical Specialist Certification • 20 hours of CEU initial/renewal • APTA clinical residency up to 40 hours • One CEU for every 2 hours • Post Professional Doctorate • One CEU for every 2 hours

  6. Continuing Education Options • Professional Writing/Research • Self Study: Up to 50% of total CEU • Journal Clubs: up to 5 hours • In-services: up to 5 hours

  7. Continuing Education Waiver • Military Service • Disability or illness • Extended leave for volunteer service • Other extenuating circumstance
