  1. 1st Term School Board Meeting Duri Campus October 22, 2009

General ISR School Info • ISR is operated by International School Services (ISS) for CPI. • Provides teachers and staff. • Provides counsel, advise, and evaluates the educational program. • ISS makes twice yearly visits to Sumatra. • The contract has been in place since 1975 and is renewed annually. • ISS is located in Princeton, New Jersey. • ISR was accredited by WASC until June 30, 2011. • ISR operates under Minister of Education and Culture decree 0184/0/75. • Governs establishment and administration of Embassy, Joint Embassy, and International Schools in Indonesia. • Article 11 specifies a Foundation (School Board) must be established.

ISR School Board • ISR Board Membership consists of the following: • Chairman: CPI executive director – Jeff Shallebarger • Vice Chairman: CPI management (appointed) –BramantioPrakoso • Treasurer: CPI management (appointed) –TimbulHutabarat • Policy Coordinator – (appointed) Ahmad Diponegoro • Elected Parent Members: • Rumbai– Donna Davidsen and Bill Mallett • Duri– Stacey Olson and Tara Faseler • Non voting members: • Lori Thiessen– Superintendent and Principal Rumbai • Jeff Crawford – Principal Duri • Formal Board meetings are held twice a year – Fall and Spring • The Board accepts correspondence at any time.

ISR Duri – Parent Survey 2009 • 62 forms were completed. • Survey asked a number of questions on various subjects covering: • Safety & Security • School Environment • Quality of Curriculum and Teaching • Community Programs • Communication • The survey’s showed varied results, both positive and negative.

Parent Survey: Negative Comments • Requests that the teachers teach more to the individuals within the grade. • Comments the children are either struggling or under challenged. • Request that the IT program be improved significantly. • Upgrading of the IT equipment. • Multiple remarks that other instruments be taught in the music program. • Communication: • Concerns that parental opinions and student needs not being taken into consideration by the Administration and the School Board. • Concerns that the open Board meetings were not forums for discussion, but vehicles for decision already made.

Parent Survey: Positive Comments • Some of the comments the were made about the staff were: “The ISR staff are wonderful.” and “Cannot thank the staff enough.” • The school field trips were fantastic and the comments request that they be continued. • ISR gives children one of the best opportunities to grow and develop their skills. • There were multiple comments on the outstanding teachers and the wonderful job that they did over the year. • Other comments were to say that parents appreciate the efforts of the school in general.
