  1. BELL WORK: Read through the project handout. P.S. You will need your Buff Binder starting TOMORROW!!

  2. Science Fact of the day The capybara is the largest rodent in the world.

  3. What the heck is that?? Collage Acrostic Uses the letters in a “target word” to describe that word • Contains pictures that represent a topic or idea

  4. What the heck is that?? Venn Diagram Mobile Hangs pictures and information from a central point • A way to compare and contrast two or more things or ideas Both Black Bears White Bears

  5. Sort ‘em! • At your tables, sort the pictures into groups. You must have at least two groups, but you may have more. • You will have to JUSTIFY your groups, so be ready to explain!

  6. What are we looking at? Today’s Essential Question: What is a cell and where do they come from?

  7. Today’s Notes • Turn to the next blank page in your notebook. The title is “Cells”, and this is page 5. Today’s date is 9-2-14. • Draw your lines for Cornell Notes. • Write the first part of today’s essential question (What is a cell?) in the left column. • Skip a few lines, then write the second part of today’s essential question (Where do they come from?) in the left column.

  8. Now YOU be the expert… • Look up to find your color, then move to the assigned corner of the room when I say. • Use the textbooks to do the following: • PINK: Answer the question, “What is a cell?” (p. 182 & 184). • ORANGE: Summarize and explain Part 1 of Cell Theory (p. 183). • YELLOW: Summarize and explain Part 2 of Cell Theory (p. 183). • GREEN: Summarize and explain Part 3 of Cell Theory (p. 183).

  9. Now you’re the teacher… • Go back to your table. • Each person will explain their part while the others take notes.

  10. Tonight’s Homework… • There are several ways to access the homework video: • Search “Types of Cells Alyssa Dolny” on YouTube • Go to my website and click on the link • You can search “Haltom High School Tiffany Jones” on Google if you don’t remember my website address
