  5. Vegetarianism Pro Con • I am for people becoming vegetarian • Good Idea • We should move in this direction • I support it • I am against people becoming vegetarian • Bad idea • Not move in this direction • Do NOT support

  6. Counter Argument • After your opponent makes an argument that you feel is weak or not true…COME BACK AT THEM WITH A COUNTER ARGUMENT! • Counter Argument: To push their argument back with your opposing argument.

  7. Debate Format • 1stSpeaker of the PRO side presents their claim and most of the team’s arguments. (2 minutes) • State your claim • Present most of your arguments and evidence (But not all!)

  9. Debate Format • Both teams “mini-conference,” going over the arguments from the opposing team. (2 minutes) • You and your teammate review the opposing teams arguments. • Select the weakest arguments • Plan counter arguments

  10. Debate Format • 2nd Speaker of the PRO side presents the counter arguments and the team’s remaining arguments. (2 minutes) • 2nd speaker responds with counter arguments • Finishes strong with one or two final arguments the team has been saving!
