  1. How to boost your Website Conversion Rate with A/B testing?

  2. A/B Testing is also known as Bucket Testing. In this test, multiple versions of a webpage are created to gather different user reactions. In other words, when users access an original URL, they are redirected to different versions of the webpage. Users react differently to different versions. These different user behaviours are later on assessed to determine exactly which version of website had a higher conversion rate. The version with the highest conversion rate is finalised at the end. This is how A/B testing works.

  3. What to keep in mind while performing A/B test?

  4. 1. Say no to cloaking Cloaking is a widely used Black Hat SEO practice, in which a different web page is shown to search engine crawlers (Google bots) and an entirely different version is shown to the human users. Google crawlers or bots would see a webpage with HTML text - enriched with search keywords Website visitors see a webpage with flash or images.

  5. 2. Canonicalisation When a particular web page is accessed through different URLs by a user, there arises a canonical issue. Let us assume that you have created different versions of a landing page for which you wish to run paid ads. ● www.website.com/test (primary URL) ● www.website.com/test-1 (version-1 for A/B testing) ● www.website.com/test-2 (version-2 for A/B testing) For testing each of the versions, you must inform the search engine about the primary version of landing page to keep it indexed as well. Now you can define your primary URL as canonical to search engines using the below mentioned code in the header of the three URLs i.e. <link rel=”canonical” ahref=”www.website.com/test”>

  6. 3. Never opt for 301 redirects. Instead go for 302 redirects only. 301 redirects are used when a website or a web page is permanently moved and you no longer need it while a 302 redirect is employed when a the move is temporary and you may use the older one. When you do A/B testing of your landing page or any other web page, you must use 302 redirects as the temporary redirect. Because 302 redirects allow the search engines to keep both the old and new URL in its indexes, you can easily get back to the old URL and web page without losing any data.

  7. 4. Run the test for a practical amount of time - Not like a never ending process. The test should be carried on for a certain time period. A never ending test would be highly impractical and would not serve its purpose.

  8. A/B testing would help you choose the best version for your website and in turn give a boost to your website conversion rate. For more information regarding higher ranking of websites, visit www.emarketz.net and get expert advice from SEO experts.
