  9. What is Chemical Engineering?

  10. What is Chemical Engineering? • Chemical engineering is that portion of engineering where materials are made to undergo a change in composition, energy or state of aggregation. (by AIChE) • Process engineering is the technological discipline which deals with technical operation of process in which materials undergo a change in type , properties or composition . (by German)

  11. What is Chemical Engineering? • Chemical engineering is branch of engineering which is concerned with process in which materials undergo a required change in composition, energy, content or physical state, with the means of their processing, with the resulting products and with their applications to useful ends. (by BIChE)

  12. What is Chemical Engineering? • Chemical engineering is the science of the production and processing of chemical products. “Chemical products” should be taken very generally . It includes stones and soils, glass and textiles, as well as foodstuffs and delicacies, road and surfacings, and effluents.

  14. Chemical engineers, with their strong ties to the molecular science, will be the “interfacial researchers” bridging science and engineering in the multidisciplinary environments where a host of new technologies will be brought into being.

Chemical engineering has a rich past and a bright future

  17. Scientist solve the problems they can, but engineers try to solve the problems they have to. • Engineers do for penny what any fool can do for a pound.

  18. Introduction Chemical Engineering What Me(http://gs.dlut.edu.cn/Html/HeGH.html)

  19. Purpose • Basic laws, rules, calculation of the unit operations which are often used • Typical equipments (structure, design) • Ability to solve the practical problem
