    2. The ADDIE Model • Addie is an acronym for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (Brown & Green, 2011). • Extremely popular approach and most commonly used with Instructional Design. • Extremely helpful with the design process and is extremely successful. • Excellent and very useful tool. The ADDIE Model

    3. The History of The ADDIE Model • 1975 FSU creates the ADDIE Model for U. S. Army (Bransen, Rayner, Cox, Furman, King, Hannum, 1975) • Mid 80’s The last phase, “Evaluation & Control,” is shortened to “Evaluation” (U.S. Army, 1984) • 1995 ADDIE is first used as an Acronym (Schlegel, 1995) • 2000’s ADDIE moves beyond a process model (DeSimone, Werner, Harris, 2002) when used to gain direct intuitive insight into a problem.

    4. The Five Phases of The ADDIE Model ANALYZE DESIGN DEVELOP IMPLEMENT EVALUATE

The Analysis Phase • The analysis phase clarifies the instructional problems and objectives, and identifies the learning environment and learner's existing knowledge and skills (ADDIE Model, 2013 ). • Analysis Questions??? • Who is your audience? • What is your goal? • What is the learning environment? • Who is your learner? • What are your limitations? • What will help you out the most in the design phase?

    6. Design Phase • The design phase deals with learning objectives, assessment instruments, exercises, content, subject matter analysis, lesson planning, and media selection (ADDIE Model, 2013). • Developer’s should: • Brainstorm • Create • Come up with prototypes • Test concepts

    7. Development Phase • In the development phase, instructional designers and developers create and assemble content assets blueprinted in the design phase (ADDIE Model, 2013). • Many Stages of Development • Initial Drafts • Reviews • Re-writes • Testing

    8. Implement Phase • While the concepts and materials have been tested throughout the process, the implementation phase can uncover topics that require further development or re-design work (Shoemaker, 2009). • This is also the phase where the project manager ensures that books, hands-on equipment, tools, CD-ROMs, and software are in place, and that the learning application or website functions (ADDIE Model, 2013).

Evaluation Phase • Formative Evaluation • This type of Evaluation is present in each phase of the ADDIE process. • Summative Evaluation • This type of evaluation is more specific and allows for user feedback. After feedback is received, revisions are made. • Evaluation Questions • Did the learner like the course? • Did the learner achieve what they were suppose too? • Does the course help achieve the specific goals?

SUMMARY The ADDIE Model • 5 Phases of The ADDIE Model • Analyze • Design • Develop • Implement • Evaluate • The ADDIE model was designed to help Instructional Designers design materials to help make a better learning experience. • The ADDIE Model is a blueprint for success.
