  2. Ensure that you are connected to the Internet. • Launch your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari). • Enter http://sam2010.course.com to visit the SAM 2010 login page. Initial Set Up

  3. Login Page Enter your Wor-Wic e-mail address for the username and your default Wor-Wic password and click the Login button. DO NOT CLICK NEW USER! If you do not know your username and password or are having trouble logging in, contact your instructor or the SAM site administrator.

  4. If you are asked for a Institution Key, you clicked New User instead of Login. Click Cancel to return to the login page and go back to the previous slide. Institution Key

  5. Enter your key code. This will be found inside the flap of the SAM 2010 package (card) you purchased with your textbooks. Click Save to go to the next screen. NOTE: This 18-digit code is case–sensitive. Key Code Entry

  6. The SAM TERMS and CONDITIONS will display. Read them fully, and then click the I Agree button to accept the terms and conditions and continue. If you click I Disagree, SAM automatically exits. Terms & Conditions

  7. You should now see the SAM Activity Calendar. In this view, you can see what assignments are available each day. Click an “Exam” or “Training” link for more details Actvity Calendar WARNING: SAM may report incorrect due dates. Rely on your syllabus or assignment schedule for due dates.

  8. If your instructor did not use availability dates or if you prefer to view in a list format, click Activity List. In this view, only assignments that are currently available will be displayed.   9. From either Activity screen, look at the drop down near the top of the page. Make sure it is the correct section number and instructor. Verify your Section

To begin a SAM Assignment from the calendar, click the “Exam” or “Training” link, then click the assignment name (which should be a hyperlink). • If the assignment name is not a link check the following: • Availability dates (maybe the assignment is currently unavailable) • Attempts remaining (you may have used all your attempts) SAM Assignments Activity Calendar View

  11. To begin a SAM Assignment from the activity, list, find the assignment you wish to complete and click the assignment name (which should be a hyperlink). SAM Assignments Activity List View • If you cannot find the assignment check the following: • Availability dates (maybe the assignment is currently unavailable) • Attempts remaining (you may have used all your attempts) • Filter buttons (if an instructor is using availability dates, turn off the “Always Available” filter)

  12. Once you click the link for an assignment, review your assignment details: (which may include) • Instructions • Time limit • number of attempts at each question • Number of retakes • When you’re ready to begin your exam click Start. SAM Assignments

  13. 7 Opened Task List 6 1 4 5 3 Exam interface 2 • Show Task List, shown collapsed, (you can use this list to jump from task to task, in any order) • Task ID number • Question label with back and forward arrows to jump between tasks • Time remaining (if set by instructor) • Attempts remaining per question • Describes the task that the student must perform. • The “simulation” of the application where you will complete the task.

  14. The first screen will always provide a written description of the task. Along the bottom: Observe- allows students to watch and listen how to perform a task Practice- allows students to follow along with guided prompts to learn a skill Apply- students perform actions, unprompted to prove that they know the skill *You MUST complete the Apply and click Task Complete to receive credit for each task. Just like in exams, you can show/hide the task list, move between questions w/arrows. Also use controls to replay, rewind, forward or pause the movies in progress. Training interface

  15. Students visit Reports to see results on all types of assignments. If you have also purchased SAM Training, you can launch Training activities, right from this Study Guide. Student Reports

  16. You have now successfully logged into SAM 2010! Note that SAM 2010 is also available from the Computer Lab page of the Wor-Wic web site (see next slide). Congratulations!
