  4. Candles: a Christian Symbol In Christianity, candles represent the light of God. They are lit as a sign of remembrance or to accompany prayer The candle indicates light – ray of hope Some Churches also use a Paschal candle which represents Jesus, and is only lit on Easter Candles are used in processions and at the altar.
