  3. NIR SIG • Wednesday, 23rd Feb 11:00-12:30 • 5 informational presentations, no proposals • Issues in the ERX project • Report from activities of NIR fee WG,etc • Change of Chair

  4. Presentations at NIR SIG • JPNIC update(JPNIC) • TWNIC OPM update and issues(TWNIC) • CNNIC Update(CNNIC) • Difficulty for ERX project in KRNIC(KRNIC) • Report from activities of NIR fee WG(KRNIC,JPNIC)

  5. Historical Resources • Issues related to historical resources were raised by KRNIC • Complaints from both the ERX resource holders and PA holders • Charging vs encouraging DB updates

  6. Reviewing NIR fee structure • Per address fee(fee charged for allocations to NIRs based on size) is causing problems to NIRs • Especially IPv6 • Inconsistency in the fee charged between LIRs under APNIC and LIRs under NIRs • Idea introduced to provisionally abolish per address fee for IPv6 allocations • NIR fee structure should be fundamentally reviewed in the long term

  7. Review of NIR fee structure • Support was expressed by a few NIRs on the idea of abolishing the IPv6 per address fee • A comment from the APNIC secretariat that the impact on APNIC budget should be carefully reviewed • Continue discussions considering its impacts and possible alternatives • draft a proposal by APNIC20

  8. Change of Chair • Izumi Okutani took the chair position after Akinori Maemura’s resignation • David Chen continues to be a co-chair • Thank you Maemura-san, for the great contributions you have given to the SIG!

  9. Action items from this SIG Action nir-19-001: James Shim from KRNIC to make suggestions to APNIC to expand the ERX FAQ to include information relevant to NIR members. Action nir-19-002: The APNIC Secretariat to post APNIC financialinformation related to per address fees to the NIR SIG mailing list.The NIR fees WG will then use the information to further develop aproposal for more equitable IPv6 fees for NIRs.
