  1. Back to School Night 2009-2010

  2. Who Am I? • My name is Patricia Ann Abrahams, I have been at Saint Anne School for 13 years teaching Kindergarten and Second Grade. • I am a member of the School Board and Project Success.

  3. First Reconciliation and First Communion The children will be making their First Communion on Saturday, May 1, 2010. at 9:30 a.m.

  4. The children have to attend Saturday evening mass or Sunday Mass, as part of their preparation for First Communion and First Reconciliation. • The girls may not have any hoops in their dresses and they may not wear any gloves. • The children should know the Sign of the Cross, The Lord’s Prayer, The Hail Mary, and the Act of Contrition. They should also be able to Read the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed. • We will have Parent Meetings in the late winter early spring, as part of our preparation for the sacramental preparation. Our presenter will be Sister Bridget. • Also the children will participate in two retreats during the school day. On these days they will bring lunch. Location to be determined.

  5. Second Grade Classroom Rules: We will be rewarded for doing our work and being a good citizen. We will try our best. We will respect others around us. We will not interrupt our friends or teachers (only in an emergency) We will raise our hands, when we want to speak or ask a question. We will share with others We will keep our hands and feet to ourselves. We will clean up after ourselves.

  6. Consequences for Second Graders: The first time we are spoken to is only a warning. The second time we are spoken to; I will move my clothespin and sit on the bench. If I get two talk to Parents in a week, I will have an afterschool detention the next day from 3:15 to 3:45p.m.

  7. Homework and School Work Rules • I will be rewarded for turning in my homework every day. • I will be rewarded for doing my schoolwork quietly. • I will turn all my work into the basket when I am done. • Any schoolwork that I do not finish will be part of my homework and it will go into my mailbox to be finished at home. • I will put my name on every piece of paper without being asked too. • I will come to school every day with a smile and try my best

  8. Consequences: • If my schoolwork and homework is not turned in or completed then I will stay in at morning recess until I finish. • If I continue to have incompletes then I will get a pink slip and stay after school everyday.

  9. Uniform Rules: • We will wear school uniform and mainly black or mainly white tennis shoes on Tuesday and Thursday. • We will carry our PEuniform in a separate bag. • We will not wear earrings on PE days. • We will have complete uniform on Mass days. • Students complete uniform is a sweater not a sweatshirt. • The boys will always wear a belt and have an even length hair cut. • We will dress according to the handbook uniform dress code. • No hooded sweatshirts are allowed.

  10. Consequences for Second Grade only: • First time we will get a verbal warning. • Second time, we will get a notice. • Third time, we will have to call our parents to bring our clothes. This includes our hair not being cut properly.

  11. Attendance • All students must be in their seats by 8:05 a.m. for school-wide morning prayer. • Any student arriving after this time must sign in at the office. • Three lates will result in morning detention in the Campbell Center at 7:30 a.m. • If your son/daughter goes to the doctor, dentist, or eye doctor then we need a note from the doctor or dentist saying what time the appointment was and the date of the appointment upon returning to school. • Please remember to sign your children out in the office before picking them up from the classroom. Even at the end of the day. • If your child is absent they are responsible for all the work that they missed.

  12. Lunch Tickets • Lunch count is done every morning at 8:10 a.m. • Mrs. Calderon only makes a few extra lunches; please make sure to let your children know if you are planning on bringing them lunch. • When you receive a note about lunch cards, please be prompt in paying for a new one. You may send the money through me or take it directly to the office in the morning. • Pizza Loca is $1.25 a slice, juice and water $1.00 • Students may not have soda for a drink. • All lunches need to be delivered to the Campbell Center; please do not interrupt class to drop off lunches, Thank you.

  13. Standardized Testing • The children will need to bring soft #2 pencils and an eraser. • Please make sure they are in bed no later than 8:30 p.m.. the whole week and eat a good breakfast. • The children should not be up past 8:30 on a school night. • During this week if anyone would like to send in bananas and milk please let me know. This gives the children energy during the testing.

  14. Festival • To be announced • Festival Dates are October 30- November 1.

  15. Snacks • As part of our Student Learning Expectations we are encouraging the children to exercise and have a good nutrition habits. Please send the children with healthy snacks for the morning and at lunchtime. Also we do not allow soda in the children’s lunches. • Please send a small snack with your children everyday for morning recess.

  16. Birthday Parties • Every month I have one party for all the children who are celebrating that month. Sometimes we will combine it with the holiday party. • If you are having a party at your home, please mail out your invitations; especially if not everyone will or can be invited.

  17. Field Trips • Please remember in order to participate on any school trips you must be fingerprinted by the diocese and attend a safety class. • All parents who took the safety class 3 or more years ago need to retake it. Please watch for more information about how to take the class. • Our field trips have not been set up, but we will be seeing a play and possibly going to Legoland in the spring.

  18. Exercise PE Log • Everyone must do 20 minute of exercise a day. • Parents must sign the log on the days the children do their exercise. Sports, Cheerleading, and Dance practice count towards their minutes. • The log must be turned in the first day of every month to Mrs. Price. No exceptions.

  20. Gradelink • My grades are the same as the Report Card • O= outstanding • S= Successful • N= Needs Improvement I count spelling and math homework as a small percentage of their final grade. The majority of their grades are based on tests.
