  2. Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is the specialized scientific entity incorporated the Academy of sciences of Turkmenistan carrying out fundamental and complex research-methodological study in the sphere of seismology and atmospheric physics • The Scientific Research Institute of Seismic Resistance Construction is the specialized research institute which carries out fundamental and applied researches in the seismic resistance construction, construction materials and engineering seismology.

  4. Within the framework of cooperation with Japanese Agency for international cooperation, it is prepared for realization the project “Technical cooperation for improvement of the system of seismological monitoring for estimation of seismic risk in Ashgabat”. According to the project, it is planed to provide the Turkmen seismologists with up-to-date seismological equipment on registration of strong motions, digital seismic stations, software for treatment and interpretation of materials.

  5. A project has been started in Turkmenistan to improve the system of seismological observations in Ashgabat and around the city. The Japan International Cooperation Agency will give Turkmenistan modern seismological equipment, digital seismic stations and software tools for processing and interpreting data. It is planned to install three digital seismic stations in Turkmenistan.

  6. At present, the Seismology Institute is involved in drafting a new map of seismic zoning of the Turkmen territory. The preparation of a reliable zoning map requires seismological data and information about the frequency and power of the earthquakes.
