  1. Why Do I Need Parenting Coaching? Parenting Coaches can help with a lot of different issues related to changes with the children or in the home. If it is offered alongside therapy it will be more of a consult but privately there can be many goals and more person-centered treatment. It may also be more long-term.

  2. Successful Examples of Parent Coaching • Parent coaching is effective when working with disorders such as Autism, ADHD, eating disorders, and behavioral issues. This can include ODD and conduct problems. Parent coaching is great for parents that don’t know where to begin with what is going on with their child.

  3. Parent Coaching and Neurodevelopmental Disorders • Parent coaches can help parents with getting IEPs in place for their kids at school. They can answer questions about psychoeducation and now neurodevelopmental differences can impact learning. Parent coaching helps parents learn about symptoms such as social-emotional issues, hyperfixation, hyperactivity, lack of focus, overstimulation, and sensory preferences.

  4. Parenting Coaching and Eating Disorders • Parent coaching is important when you are dealing with children that have an eating disorder. It provides an education of the behavior and why it is occurring. It trains parents on how to adopt an appropriate response to the child’s eating disorder. It also helps with the issues of self-image, self-esteem, and emotional imbalance that may apply.

  5. Cost of a Parenting Coach • The price range for parent coaching is anywhere from $50 to $300 a session when paying out of pocket. Some insurances don’t consider it therapy while some providers offer parent coaching under the umbrella of a parent consult. The cost definitely varies.
