This is a presentation showing what we did in our second camera workshop with Matt on Friday 21st January
E N D
What we learned on Friday • The 180 degree rule • The split screen method • How to make and edit simple scenes such as walking into a room, picking up a pair of scissors and walking out again.
180 Degree Rule The 180-degree rule is a cinematography rule concerning the space between two actors within a frame. Also, keeping the camera on one side of the 180-degree line makes sure the actors keep the same left/right relationship with one another. Scenes filmed this way look orderly and can be easily followed. Then he showed us an example using Darcy and Lara. He made the rest of us stand in a semi circle around them and showed us that Darcy was always on the right and Lara was always on the left unless you went to the other side than it was vice versa.
Master Technique A master shot is a film recording of an entire dramatized scene, start to finish, from a camera angle that keeps all the players in view.
Coverage Technique The coverage technique involves shooting from more positions than will be used in the final film, allowing the director to choose shots during the editing process.
What new skills did you develop? I developed: • How to set up the camera and tripod • How to focus a shot and zoom in and out • How to record a scene
