  1. Technology Timeline Joanna Idrovo & Ashley Chase Spring 2012

  2. Definition of Technology Technology is something that helps us in our everyday lives, making things easier to do. It is also very useful for different types of work related tasks. Technology isn’t always for work, it can also be used for entertainment.

  3. Abacus The abacus was invented in 2400 B.C. in Babylonia. It was used back then to help people solve math problems.

  4. Eyeglasses The eyeglasses were invented in 1280. They are important today because they are used to improve peoples’ vision if they have vision problems such as lazy eye or double vision.

  5. Microscope The microscope, invented by Galileo Galilei in 1609 was a very important discovery. It allows us to see things we could never see with the naked eye. This invention has been important in the study of diseases such as cancer.

  6. Thermometer Invented in 1710, the thermometer can be used to see how hot or cold something is. These can be used inside or outside for humans, animals, and cars . It can be used to see if a human has a fever, if a fridge is cold enough, or to see how hot or cold a room is.

  7. Spinning Jenny The Spinning Jenny was important back in 1767 because it was used to spin wool into yarn. The yarn was then used to knit clothes and sweaters to keep people warm. Eventually this was replaced with bigger, faster machines in factories.

  8. Vaccination Vaccinations were invented in 1798. They are important because they keep us from getting the chicken pox, flu, measles, and other diseases.

  9. Conveyor Belt The conveyer belt is important in manufacturing because it can move many heavy things from place to place . Conveyer belts are also necessary to move luggage around in airports.

  10. Braille Braille is important to the blind because it allows them to read by feeling the dots on a surface. Braille helps people have better, more enriched lives.

  11. Vacuum Cleaner The vacuum cleaner was invented in 1901. The vacuum cleaner uses a motor to suck up the dirt on carpets. The dirt gets sucked through a hose-like tube and the tube sends the dirt into a bag.

  12. Airplane The 1st successful flying airplane is important because this was the beginning of new flying machines. Today airplanes carry heavy cargo and hundreds of passengers at a time.

  13. Conclusion Technology has changed our lives because now we have machines that can do many more things than we can do. Huge airplanes can fly in the sky carrying many passengers at a time, cell phones can send texts to other phones, and microscopes can help us learn more about diseases. We can use different kinds of machines to make things easier for the better of our society. We use cars, trains, and buses for mobility and we use phones, tablets and computers to look up things on the internet, or call our friends and family. Technology has possibly changed our values because now we spend more time using Facebook and other social networking sites instead of spending time with family and friends. In the future, we could possibly have cars that drive themselves.
