Herbal, homeopathic, or allopathic? • Approx. 2000 homeopathic preparations are derived from herbs and called by their botanical names • Some even have same indication for use e.g. Colchicine for gout • 50% of conventionally used drugs have their origins in traditionally used herbs • Perceived synergistic effect of whole plant more gentle, safe, and effective J E Greenwood L M Peatfield
