  2. Comfort One Another • Παρακαλέω, (parakaleō) “to call to one’s side” (BDAG, Vine’s) • Comfort – emotional strength, consolation • Exhort – appeal to, urge • Implore (Philippians 4:2) or beg (Acts 13:42), 16:15, urge (1 Timothy 1:3)

  3. Comfort One Another • Comfort – 5 times in reference to the Holy Spirit and Jesus • “Helper” - John 14:16, 26, 16:26, 16:7 • Jesus, our “Advocate” – 1 John 2:1 • Consider how the HS helped the apostles – cf. Luke 12:11-12, 2 Timothy 4:16-17

  4. Comfort One Another • We are living in troubling times. • We all have times of trouble! • We need each other! • We need to be there for “ one another” – in attitude, demeanor and conduct. • Some need comfort more than others, but that is ok. • Philippians 2:1 – if there is any comfort of love
