  1. Distributing Income: You Be the Judge Activity “We have been talking about how American workers are losing ground. We will now look at “why” this happens by conducting a role-play based on a real life situation where we will look at the fairness in the distribution of incomes.”

  2. Income Distribution Role Play • Sunnyvale Nursing Home has an extra $500,000. We are going to decide who should get this extra money. • These five candy bars represent five $100,000 bills, and at the end of the role-play I will divide the candy up the way the money is allocated in the role-play. • There are seven different groups at Sunnyvale Nursing Home, so I need seven volunteers. You will be given teams and you will be the spokesperson for your team.

Sunnyvale Nursing Home • Your job is to persuade the other groups that your group should get some of the money. • Read and discuss your card with your group, then decide where you think the five $100,000 bills should go. Each spokesperson (and members of your group) will have a turn to state your opinion. You can propose something different than what is on the card; these are just suggestions.
