People with disabilities represent a significant and untapped workforce market in Canada, making up 16% of the population, including 1.9 million Ontarians. Despite high unemployment rates at 49%, studies reveal that employees with disabilities perform at or above average. Many employers report increased productivity and reduced turnover rates among these workers. Initiatives to integrate this group can solve labor shortages projected at 1 million by 2020 and can lead to substantial economic benefits, including lower costs and improved corporate reputation.
