2. Citing Poetry • For a long (epic) poem, cite the part (if there is a number of parts) and the line numbers, separated by a period. • When Homer’s Odysseus comes to the hall of Circe, he finds his men “mild/ in her soft spell, fed on her drug of evil” (10.209-11).

3. Citing Poetry • For poems not divided into parts, use line numbers. • For a first reference, use the word “lines”: (lines 5-8). • Thereafter, just use the numbers (12-13).

4. Citing Literary Criticism • To cite a literary criticism article, include the following information: • Author of article. "Title of Article." Journal Title volume number (year of publication): page numbers of original article. Rpt. in Title of Reference Source. Ed. Editor's Name. Vol. volume number. City of Publication: Publisher, date of publication. page numbers in reference source.

5. Citing Literary Criticism of Poems • Author of Critique (followed by a period) • Title of Critique (in quotation marks with period coming before final quotes). • Title of Book that contains literary criticism (underlined and followed by a period). • Volume number, year of publication: page numbers of original article. (followed by a period) • Rpt. in Title of Reference Source. (Rpt. means reprinted). • Editor’s name. • Volume. Volume number. • City of publication: Publisher, Date of publication. • Page numbers in Reference Source.
